Affiliate Marketing - Do You Need A Website?

I often see people interested in affiliate marketing, asking on forums, whether they need to have their own website or not. While there is no right or wrong answer to this question, I would like to share with you my opinion about this. Nowadays, actually blogs are getting more popular than websites, because they are much easier to manage. However, we are talking about a necessity of a website or blog.

I personally think that you should have your own place on the Internet. Just a simple website or blog, where you could communicate with other people, who know you or just people who like what you are writing about. Before you can set up a website, you need to buy a domain, which costs about $10 and hosting, which is very cheap as well. In regards of costs, it doesn’t cost much to manage a website. The problem may be your web design knowledge and experience.

Fortunately, there is a solution to that. You can use Wordpress. Yes, it’s a blogging platform, but there are so many different themes, which you can use and customize your blog to look like a real website. In terms of managing a blog, Wordpress is really easy.

After you’ve set up a website, you can use it in many purposes. You can use it as a landing page, you can use it to interact with your visitors, or you can build it up and then sell it, in case if you need quick cash.

If you don’t want to spend a single dollar on affiliate marketing, then there are also free solutions. Beginners may want to use sites like Squidoo, Hubpages, Blogger and others for their landing pages, but I wouldn’t do that. The reason for that is because you never know, what can happen to “your” sites. For example, so far Squidoo allows affiliate links, but imagine what will happen, if they make up a new rule against affiliate promotions in lenses…That means, if you had any landing pages there, they all will go down, leaving you with nothing.

That’s why I recommend using something, which 100% belongs to you. Self-hosted Wordpress or professionally designed website is the best way to go. You will be able to put up literally anything there, without being scared of getting flagged or something similar. Your website, your business!
