I also like writing different articles about how to make money online, SEO, marketing and some other stuff. While I like blogging and Internet marketing, I am also in love with video games. That’s actually how I found out about Clickbank and Affiliate marketing. Let me tell you a little story.

On my 10th birthday my dad bought me a computer. I was so happy at that time, because back in 90’s, not every person could afford to buy a computer. I still remember my 4GB hard drive with 32 ram and Celeron 466mhz processor. Certainly I was really young, and all I could think about was playing games, lots of games. So I was using my computer just for gaming, not even for homework, because I was still going to high school.

I was really crazy about video games, actually even now I like to spend few hours a day on gaming, but the game, which I was playing all day long was Counter-Strike. You may know this game, because it’s the most popular 1st person shooter in the world. Literally millions of people are playing it, and there are tournaments going on everywhere, where teams of 5 people compete against each other. That’s not really important, but I just wanted to let you know, what it’s all about.

To be honest, I didn’t find out about Counter-Strike (CS) myself. When I was in high school my friend told me about it, and he wanted to play against me. So he gave me the CD, and that’s how my addiction to that game started. The reason, why I am writing so much about this game, because this is what brought me to Internet marketing. While there is no connection between gaming and marketing online right now, but if you read on, you will discover what happened to me.

At the time, I didn’t even have Internet connection, but few years later, when I turned 13, finally I realized what is Internet all about. Eventhough, that there are tons of things you can do online, I was spending 5-6 hours after school playing CS online. Yeah, I know that’s a lot, and actually my parents were telling me to stop, because I was playing literally till 11pm every day.

The time went on, and my skills were getting better and better. At some stage of playing CS I realized that it’s boring to play on public servers, and if I am so good I need to find a team to play on tournaments and hopefully earn some cash. I thought it was a great idea at that time, so after talking to some of my friends, we formed a team of 6 people.

Now I was really close to discovering the website, where I found out about Internet marketing. Read on.

Honestly, at that time, I didn’t care about any communities or forums. I was simply turning my computer on, launching CS and playing long hours. However, once we formed a team, I realized that we need some resource (website) to find out, when all these tournaments and championships happen, so we could attend them.

I had no idea about gaming websites, but my team members suggested using a website called Baltgames. I have no words to say how thankful I am, because that is the website, where my journey to Internet marketing has begun. However, not so fast, the story is not over yet. By the way, the website is not English, but Russian, so I don’t think you will understand anything there, unless you know Russian.

So I registered on that website, and obviously, I was just having fun on the forum, reading mini blogs and watching videos. Few months forward, I was already a real member of “the club” and I was actually reading some news there, interesting articles, not just about gaming, but trying to learn something useful.

One day, I went to Baltgames website as usual, but this time I noticed that there was a new article featured on the home page with a dollar sign and the title was “Making money online”. It was few years ago, and at that time I really had no idea, that you could actually make money online. I was always thinking that everything online is a huge scam and there is nothing legit there.

Basically, what the guy was doing in the article, he was promoting a product, which I still remember, called Data Entry Bank. Google it, and you will find the website. At that time Clickbank + Adwords method was extremely popular, because not many people knew about Google Cash technique, and you could make couple of hundred of dollars every day just by direct linking. Nothing could be simpler.

However, I didn’t pay any attention to that article, and I thought it’s just another scam. I regret about my decision so much, because I could have made literally thousands those years. Nowadays, competition on Adwords is really high and with direct linking you won’t go far.

Another year has passed, and I was still a member of Baltgames. I was regularly visiting that website, because now I had quite a lot of friends there, and my relation to it was like a community website. In summer 2007, the same guy, who has written the article about making money online, made another article. This time he was promoting Nick Mark’s product called Automated Millions. I perfectly remember it, because it was the first digital product, which I have bought online. That’s when everything started.

I didn’t want to miss the opportunity again, that’s why I decided to give it a try. It may sound a bit funny, but when I saw those nice ebooks and CD’s on the sales page, I thought I will receive them in post. Unfortunately, I didn’t. It was really information overload for me. When I purchased the product, it had many different ebooks and videos, and I got confused what to do and how to do.

There was so much stuff to learn, that I didn’t know where to start. Certainly, because I spent some cash to buy the product, I wanted to try and see what I can do. However, after few weeks, when I didn’t see the promised “millions” in my Clickbank account, I decided to quit everything, because I thought it was too complicated. I deleted my domain, canceled my hosting and unsubscribed from Aweber. Basically, Automated Millions method was all about Email marketing: building a squeeze page and sending traffic there via Adwords.

As it was summer, and I had lots of free time, I wanted to get a job to earn some extra cash. I created a CV and printed many copies of it. I was going around the shops and looking for vacancies literally everywhere. I was even thinking working as a cleaner, because I thought, I am still getting paid. At the end of the summer, I found no job, I earned zero cash and actually I wasted my holidays.

After the summer has passed and I didn’t find a job, I started thinking about going back to Internet marketing, because I thought, why would I want to work for someone and have a boss, if I can work at home at any time I want? I didn’t want to start Automated Millions method again, because the idea of Email marketing wasn’t my path.

As I already had Adwords account, because I registered one to promote my squeeze page, I wanted to try some direct linking with Clickbank. So I spent few months trying different products and keywords, but all I was doing is wasting my money on useless clicks and hardly profiting.

I decided, that I need some help, and wanted to get some advice. I did a little research online, and found Digital Point Forum. First, I didn’t pay much attention to it, because I thought I just need to find few answers to my questions and that’s it. However, after I started getting advice from loyal members, I couldn’t just let it go, and I wanted to give something back to them, saying thank you.

To be honest, Data Entry Bank and Automated Millions both were waste of my time. I don’t regret that I spent some money on Adwords, because now I know how it works, so I am not a newbie. However, Digital Point is the place, where I really started to understand Internet marketing and learn what I need to do to make money online. I learned so much from the members there, that I will always be thankful for that.

While I was thinking to buy expensive Clickbank ebooks, people on DP forum were giving out free guides, which were short and straight to the point. I don’t regret a single day, which I spent on DP, because the majority of things I know, I learned everything there. Certainly, there are some newbies, who ask stupid questions, but I remember myself in their position, so I don’t mind helping beginners.

I would like say thank you to quite a lot of members of DP, but I don’t want to mention any names here, because I am sure, that I will forget someone, so it’s better not to write at all. The lesson, which I learned from my journey is that you never know what can happen to you.

Just few years back, I was an average gamer having fun on PC with no idea about Internet marketing. Nowadays, I regularly visit DP forum, manage a blog, write articles, review products and still enjoy video games. Stick to your hobbies, because maybe one day, they will help you to find your way to six figure income from home.
